Suspect in fatal shooting in Lexington is being held in Detroit
A suspect in a fatal shooting in February in Lexington is being held in Michigan.
Jayronn Montero Nickerson, 22, was arrested Wednesday by federal officers on a warrant from Lexington, according to a news release by Lexington police.
Nickerson is charged with murder and probation violation, according to a statement from Lexington police spokeswoman Sherelle Roberts.
Nickerson is wanted in the fatal shooting of Vincenzio Q. Happy on Feb. 9 in the parking lot of a strip mall on Lima Drive in Lexington, Roberts said.
Happy died at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital, where he was taken after the shooting.
Roberts said Lexington police obtained a murder arrest warrant for Nickerson on Feb. 13.
He was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service and is being held in the Wayne County jail in Detroit, Lexington police said.
