A Lexington man pleaded not guilty Thursday to murder charges stemming from the beating death of an 87-year-old man.
Cory D. Etherington, 32, is charged with murder and being a persistent felon. Etherington is accused of killing John Tully, who was found July 11 in his apartment complex on Appian Way.
Fayette County District Court Judge T. Bruce Bell entered a not guilty plea on Etherington's behalf and appointed an attorney for him during Thursday's arraignment.
Etherington will be held at the Fayette County jail without bond. He's scheduled to be in court again July 30.
