Lexington shooting victim identified as Joseph Ramone Parker; arrest warrant is issued

The Fayette County coroner's office has identified the man who was shot Thursday morning on Augusta Court as Joseph Ramone Parker, 30.

Parker's death has been ruled a homicide. An autopsy Friday determined Parker died from multiple gunshot wounds. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home in Versailles.

On Friday afternoon, Lexington police issued a murder arrest warrant for Jevon D. Magee, 21, in the slaying of Parker.

Officers arrived at the Augusta Arms complex after residents reported hearing multiple gunshots about 9:30 a.m. Thursday and found a wounded man outside one of the apartment buildings. The complex includes several apartment buildings along Augusta Court.

Parker's slaying is Lexington's 18th homicide of 2014.
