28-year-old man dies of multiple gunshot wounds in Lexington’s first homicide of 2016

Lexington’s first shooting of 2016 turned into its first homicide overnight as the victim died.

Joseph Allen McDowell, 28, died of multiple gunshot wounds at University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital very early Saturday, according to the Fayette County coroner’s office. McDowell was found in the 400 block of Roosevelt Boulevard about 5:15 a.m. Friday.

An autopsy was scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday.

McDowell was found in a driveway near the sidewalk, Lt. Clay Combs said Friday.

The site is off Georgetown Street, inside New Circle Road and not far from Douglass Park.
