Update: Monday after Spring Break confirmed as a make-up day for Fayette students
Due to the recent inclement weather and canceled classes, Fayette County Public Schools officials intend to change the 2025–2026 instructional calendar.
April 13, 2026, the Monday after spring break, which is currently on the district calendar as a day off for students, will be an instructional day for students and staff.
Pupil personnel director Steve Hill said families who already have travel plans or appointments for that day should reach out to school and district officials who can work with them.
The Board of Education will take formal action to approve the amended calendar at the end of the instructional year, an agenda document said.
To ensure safe road conditions for bus routes Fayette County Public Schools is canceling in-person classes on Monday Feb. 9, for the 11th school day. It will be a traditional snow day.
On Tuesday, Feb. 10, students in kindergarten through 12th grade will return to school on a two-hour delay. Tuesday’s preschool sessions are canceled.
In all, FCPS officials have canceled 10 in-person school days in the aftermath of Winter Storm Fern on Jan. 24 and 25.
FCPS used four consecutive nontraditional instruction days, from Jan. 26-29, before having five straight traditional snow days Feb. 2-6.
Aside from April 13, March 20 has been confirmed as a make-up day for students.
