What will Tuesday’s 2-hour delay look like for Fayette County students?
Fayette County students return to in-person class Tuesday for the first time in 11 school days since Winter Storm Fern, which hit Kentucky on June 24-25.
On Tuesday, Fayette schools will start two hours later than normal.
Buses will run the usual routes, officials say, but the district is adding two hours to the regularly scheduled times.
Breakfast will be available before classes.
While K-12 schools are on a delay, all preschool sessions are canceled (a.m., p.m., and full-day).
Morning classes are canceled at The HILL and Locust Trace, but afternoon tech center schedules are unaffected. School dismissal times remain the same. Afternoon and evening activities also will continue as usual.
The district shares information on weather impacts at FCPS.net/weather.
Buses will travel a little slower than normal Tuesday out of an abundance of caution, considering drivers might still encounter ice on their routes, the district said.
“Safety is our top priority, and there might be bus stops that our drivers cannot reach safely. In such cases, the affected families will be notified — possibly close to the pick-up time. Please evaluate your neighborhood and your street to see if this might be a possibility so you can be on standby Tuesday morning for a message from FCPS,” district officials said.
“If a bus stop cannot be reached, we ask for your help in transporting your child or children. If you cannot make it, the student’s absence will be excused. Please be patient as our drivers navigate the routes.”
