‘You just sang the hell out of it.’ Holly Forbes wows in first live ‘Voice’ performance
In her first live performance on “The Voice,” Holly Forbes impressed both her new coach and her old one.
Performing “Torn,” made famous by Natalie Imbruglia, the Catlettsburg, Kentucky, native showed off her soulful sound that has helped her continue in the competition.
The Monday, Nov. 8 episode was Forbes’ fourth appearance on the show. She has also sung “Superstar” by Delaney and Bonnie, “Sunny” by Bobby Hebb and Elton John’s “Rocketman.” The television audience will now decide Forbes’ fate on the show.
Forbes initially joined Kelly Clarkson’s team after all four coaches turned their chairs for her during the blind auditions. She later lost her knockout round, but Ariana Grande chose her to be a part of her team.
Grande seemed pleased with her decision after Forbes’ latest performance.
“Holly, that was so stunning. I don’t have words for how proud I am of you,” Grande said. “That was such a brilliant song choice as well. So amazing, so interesting and you just sang the hell out of it.”
Her former coach was also dazzled by the performance.
“Oh my God, that was so good, Holly,” Clarkson said. “I know you’re so gifted and this game is so hard for us sometimes because we hate losing people we love so much, but I’m so happy you’re still on the show.”
Forbes will find out in the Tuesday, Nov. 9 episode if she advances on the show.
Forbes said during the first round she works as a caregiver for patients with autism and other developmental and intellectual disabilities. She was among the seven singers in the blind auditions to have all four coaches turn their chairs.
