Store clerks forced at gunpoint to load stolen shoes, cash into vehicle, Arizona cops say
An armed woman forced two store employees to load stolen cash and shoes into her vehicle on Christmas Eve at a Prescott mall, Arizona police told news outlets.
Holly Ailiff, 38, first asked employees at the Prescott Gateway Mall store to set aside several pairs of shoes for her Friday, Dec. 24, telling them her husband would return to pay for them, police told AZ Family.
Ailiff is accused of returning to the store 40 minutes later with a handgun about 7 p.m. and ordering workers to empty the cash registers, KPNX reported.
Police said she forced the clerks at gunpoint to load $1,500 in shoes and $3,700 cash in the trunk of her vehicle before fleeing, KSAZ reported.
The employees memorized her license plate, allowing police to pull over her vehicle and arrest her a short time later in downtown Prescott, AZ Family reported.
Ailiff faces charges including armed robbery, aggravated assault and kidnapping, police told KSAZ.
Prescott is a city of about 42,000 people in central Arizona, 99 miles north of Phoenix.
