A man won a jackpot $100,000 prize in the Missouri Lottery.

When a lottery player opted to change his routine and purchase a new ticket, his misfortunes suddenly took a turn.

“I’m that guy that never wins. That’s not true anymore,” the man said in an Oct. 18 news release after becoming a $100,000 winner in the Missouri Lottery.

He purchased the $5 Power 5s ticket at a convenience store in Columbia. The game features five top prizes of $100,000.

The jackpot winner said he usually purchases smaller-priced tickets, but he changed his routine when he saw the Power 5s ticket.

“The only number I missed had a $5 prize next to it. That one kind of tickled me,” he told Missouri Lottery officials.

He said he plans to use the winnings for his retirement.

“I’m just a simple guy,” he said. “It’s exciting! Very helpful and useful. I’m trying to contain myself.”
