A Victorian house that has seen its share of major storms over the past century has landed on the real estate market in Galveston, Texas, for $1.4 million.
“Built in 1886-87 for German native Jacob Sonnentheil this home was most likely designed by prominent Galveston architect Nicholas J. Clayton,” the listing on Zillow.com says. “Sonnentheil operated a wholesale dry goods store on The Strand in Galveston. The Sonnentheil house displays influences of Eastlake, Gothic, and Italianate architectural styling.”
While the outside draws in curious folks with its beauty, the inside is a testament to classic decor throughout its three bedrooms and six bathrooms. Features, per the listing, include:

The home sports a plaque near the front that mentions the house survived the great storm of 1900, also known as the 1900 Galveston hurricane, which is considered one of the deadliest natural disasters in U.S. history.
The estate was even featured on Zillow Gone Wild, a Facebook page and X (formerly known as Twitter) account that highlights unique houses for sale, and people immediately fell in love.
“A true Grande Dame! This house deserves to be loved by a dedicated preservationist,” one person said on Facebook.
“This house is almost perfect!!!! The stove is a no go but everything else is pretty incredible!” another wrote.
“So lovely, but the practical tired middle aged side of me says ‘it would be a nightmare to clean,’” someone observed.
“This is the type of house you can only live in if you own multiple three-piece suits and walk around the house all day in a red velvet dressing gown,” someone on X posted.
