Man finds $10 in pocket and spends it on winning lottery ticket. ‘Didn’t believe it’
A computer programmer found $10 in his pocket and spent it on a scratch-off in Maryland.
His $100,000 win left him in disbelief.
The man stopped at a gas station in Laurel when he found money in his pocket, the Maryland Lottery said in a May 29 news release.
“I looked over and saw the purple in the Money Drop scratch-offs so I decided to buy one,” he told lottery officials.
He scratched the ticket and immediately saw he had uncovered an 18, which matched one of the winning numbers for a $100,000 top prize.
The man finished scratching his ticket, then he looked over his ticket again, lottery officials said.
“At first, I didn’t believe it. I took a picture to send to my friend,” he said.
Now he has plans to pay off his bills and save.
Laurel is about a 20-mile drive southwest from Baltimore.
