Woman’s broken down car helps her win big lottery prize in Maryland. ‘Look at this!’
A lottery player held off on playing some tickets because her car broke down in Maryland.
Her hesitancy won her and her husband $50,014.
The bank employee went to Pappas Restaurant and Sports Bar in Parkville and had plans to replay some Keno To Go tickets, the Maryland Lottery said in a May 30 news release.
Replaying the ticket means a player will “get a new KENO ticket with the same numbers and wager amount,” according to the Connecticut Lottery.
But her car broke down in the restaurant parking lot, so she decided to go home when it was up and running, lottery officials said.
She returned to the bar another day and replayed the tickets, lottery officials said. She brought them back home to her husband, and he started checking them.
That’s when he said “look at this!” she told lottery officials.
They had won $50,014.
“We were so surprised,” she said.
Now they have plans to buy new kitchen appliances and pay bills.
Parkville is about a 10-mile drive northeast from Baltimore.
