Player thought ‘machine was broken’ after seeing his big Maryland Lottery prize
An avid lottery player “couldn’t believe what he was seeing” after learning of his big prize, Maryland officials said.
The man bought seven $10 Ultimate Cash scratch-offs in Gaithersburg so he’d have a better chance of winning, according to an Aug. 6 news release by the Maryland Lottery.
His strategy paid off after “one of the games from the middle of the pack” revealed the $100,000 top prize, officials said.
“I thought the machine was broken,” he told lottery officials.
The lucky winner doesn’t have any plans for the money besides “taking his girlfriend to the beach before summer ends,” officials said.
This win means there are three $100,000 top prizes left, the release said.
Gaithersburg is about a 40-mile drive southwest of Baltimore.
