A pup in Kansas is ready to start a new chapter in his life with a new family to give him affection.

Life wasn’t always easy for Loki. When he first arrived at the Helping Hands Humane Society in Topeka, he was a shell of himself, the shelter said in a Dec. 12 Facebook post.

“Meet Loki, a 3-year-old pit bull mix who has truly transformed before our eyes. His journey before arriving at our shelter is one we prefer not to dwell on, but we’re so grateful that he’s here now,” the shelter said. “When Loki first arrived on October 10th, he was in rough shape – weighing only 30 lbs and his skin in need of some serious TLC. The first photo of him shows the struggle he endured, but his story is about hope, healing, and love.”

According to his pet profile, Loki is known around the kennels as a “comedian” with a playful, and curious personality.

“My energy is contagious, and I can turn any dull moment into a fun one. But don’t let my playful nature fool you, I’m also quite smart and independent. I enjoy figuring out puzzles and can keep myself entertained,” Loki’s pet profile says.

He didn’t get that way overnight. When Loki first arrived, he wasn’t quick to trust the staff, but that changed the longer his stay extended.

“By October 18th, just 8 days later, he had gained 6 lbs and his confidence started to shine! Loki’s goofy, loving side emerged, and he was eager for cuddles, attention from both people and dogs alike,” the post continues.

“Fast forward to yesterday, and look at him now! Loki weighs a healthy 47 lbs, his skin is glowing, and his spirit is stronger than ever. He’s full of happiness, confidence and energy, always ready to share his joy with those around him. Whether it’s cuddles or goofy smiles (check out the comment section for some hilarious bloopers!), Loki is sure to brighten your day.”

Now, Loki is ready for a home where he can soak up all the love he can.

“We’ve all fallen head over heels for this sweet, silly boy, and we want nothing more than to see him find the perfect family to start his next chapter,” the shelter said.
