Lottery ticket wins big in Florida days before Christmas. Here’s where it was sold
A trip to the liquor store ended with someone winning an intoxicating amount of money in the Florida Lottery, and the big news came just in time for Christmas.
The Fantasy 5 evening drawing was held Saturday, Dec. 21, and the winning numbers were 1-7-11-18-30, lottery officials said.
A winner hasn’t yet come forward, but their ticket is worth $127,817.
Actually, the total is $127,817 — and 34 cents.
The ticket was sold at Malabar Liquors on Georgia Street in Palm Bay, which is about a 75-mile drive southeast from Orlando.
Fantasy 5 players are tasked with selecting five numbers from 1 through 36 — or they can let a machine do it at random for them, according to the game rules.
Calculations show there are 376,992 possibilities when it comes to variations of the 36 numbers, so that means players who win beat odds of 1 in 376,992, lottery officials say.
The winner has 180 days to claim the prize and needs to show up in person due to the large amount of cash involved, the lottery says. Wait beyond that, and the ticket is considered expired.
