The 2023 legislative session is officially underway in Kentucky, and while it’s only 30 days long this year, lawmakers could hold votes on top issues like income tax cuts, sports betting and medical marijuana.

As a constituent, you can help shape those votes by contacting your representative and making your voice heard. You may have a new representative or it could be your first time reaching out to your legislator about a particular issue.

Whatever the reason, you might be wondering how to get in touch with your lawmakers.

To get started, you can visit the Kentucky General Assembly’s website and use the Find Your Legislator tool to determine who represents you by entering your home address.

For another look of which state lawmakers represent which counties, you can check out maps from the Legislative Research Commission. (If you’re interested in federal representation, congress.gov has a similar tool that enables you to locate your U.S. senator and house representative.)

To follow the latest updates on legislation that interests you, there’s also the Kentucky Legislative Research Commission’s Bill Watch service.

Here’s a look at Kentucky state representatives and senators representing all or parts of Fayette County.
