Kentucky’s US Senate candidates on the issues: healthcare, electability & more
Kentucky Democratic and Republican voters alike have options in selecting their respective party’s 2026 nominee for U.S. Senate.
For Democrats, it’s something of a contrast to years past, where 2020 was a two-person race between former state Rep. Charles Booker and U.S. Marine Corps veteran Amy McGrath, and Booker coasted to the 2022 nomination.
Now, both Booker and McGrath are back, and they’re joined by some new faces. Louisville horse trainer Dale Romans, state House Minority Floor Leader Pamela Stevenson and Lexington attorney Logan Forsythe have all been running organized, vigorous campaigns.
But where do they fall on some of the biggest issues debated within the Democratic Party?
McGrath, Romans and Stevenson all answered a written questionnaire from the Herald-Leader on those topics. Booker and Forsythe did not.
Likewise, no Republican running for U.S. Senate in Kentucky answered a questionnaire on immigration policy, the national debt and more. The Herald-Leader reached out to U.S. Rep. Andy Barr, former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron and Michael Faris; the newspaper also contacted Nate Morris prior to his decision to end his run on May 1.
Candidates were limited to 150 words in their responses and agreed not to use artificial intelligence in generating their answers.
