Kentucky has the most polite drivers in the country, study shows. Why are we so nice?
Congrats, Kentucky. You have the most polite drivers in the country, according to a new study.
In the study by Insurify, a website that provides data in automotive, home and health studies, Kentucky drivers were deemed to receive the fewest infractions per 1,000 drivers that are categorized as “rude..”
Only 9.9 drivers out of 1,000 were cited for a “rude” infractions, according to the study. The national average is 29.6.
Kentucky drivers are especially adept at yielding, the study shows. In violations for failing to yield the right of way, Kentucky is 79.4 percent lower than the national average, while it’s 69.9 percent lower than the national average in failing to yield to a pedestrian violations.
Insurify data revealed Kentucky drivers receive tailgating violations at a rate that is 75.4 percent lower than the national average. Hit-and-runs are also considerably lower — 62.6 percent than the rest of the U.S..
The website also used improper backing, passing where prohibited and street racing violation data to compute its rankings. It used data from the FBI and Bureau of Transportation Statistics.
One of Kentucky’s neighboring states, Virginia, has the rudest drivers in the country, according to the website.
Failure to stop at red lights is the most common violation among rude drivers across the U.S., Insurify determined.
The findings may not be a total shock. A study by QuoteWizard by Lending Tree revealed Louisville has the second-best drivers in the country and Lexington ranked 10th overall. The study evaluated cities based on accidents, speeding tickets, DUIs and other citations.
