Kentucky nursing home employee gets house arrest for violating coronavirus quarantine
A nursing home employee in Louisville was placed under house arrest Thursday after she tested positive for coronavirus and violated a self-quarantine order.
The employee worked at Treyton Oak Towers, according to multiple reports. Treyton Oak Towers had seen 29 cases of coronavirus and five deaths as of Friday. The nursing home is now up to seven deaths and 35 total cases (23 residents, 12 staff members) according to Louisville TV stations WLKY and WDRB.
The employee declined to sign a quarantine/isolation order, according to Jefferson County court documents, even when the orders were sent electronically on April 3 and April 7.
The Louisville Metro Police Department tried to make contact with the employee at her home after Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness officials failed to get ahold of them by phone, according to the court documents. Police saw her vehicle and reported activity inside the home, but no one answered the door.
Neighbors told officers that the employee had been seen leaving her home multiple times, per court documents.
The health department contacted the courts to have the woman placed under house arrest after the failed attempts to contact her.
The house arrest will require the employee to be tracked at all times, the order said.
On March 23, the Louisville metro health department issued an order that required anyone who had been diagnosed with COVID-19 to self-quarantine or isolate. The order also applied to people who had come in contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus.
