First Lady Jill Biden cancels planned Kentucky trip over weather concerns
First Lady Jill Biden has canceled her planned trip to Kentucky on Thursday to view damage from the Dec. 11 tornado in Bowling Green.
Biden’s office announced the trip was off because of the forecast for severe weather in the area.
Snow is forecast over much of the state on Thursday.
Biden was scheduled to fly into Nashville on Thursday morning and then arrive in Bowling Green for a tour at 11:45 (CST) of a neighborhood wrecked by one of three tornadoes that hit Bowling Green early on Dec. 11, followed by a visit to the center where the Federal Emergency Management Agency is takinf applications for assistance.
Seventeen people died in Bowling Green and Warren County as a result of the storm. Statewide, more than 70 people were killed, with Bowling Green, Mayfield, Dawson Springs and Bremen the hardest-hit places.
President Joe Biden visited the area hit by the tornadoes last month.
