Want to make a bid for historic horse farm Adena Springs? Start at $55 million.
A price tag has been set for Adena Springs, the Paris Thoroughbred breeding farm announced for sale in November: $55 million.
And that’s actually a price drop: When the property was announced for sale in 2017, then-owner Frank Stronach was asking $80 million.
The 2,300-acre farm has been listed by Dallas-based real estate firm Icon Global since last fall. Icon Global on Thursday announced the launch of a marketing campaign, with a video showing off the farm that has been home to legendary champions Ghostzapper, Mucho Macho Man and Awesome Again, among others.
“Interest in the property has been consistent and global in nature since our initial announcement for a variety of end users,” said Icon Global’s Bernard Uechtritz in the release. “We have canvassed the spectrum of equestrian industry disciplines since announcing the intent to sell and as a result we are engaged in various discussions with prospects regarding new ownership. However, my mandate is to first explore and exhaust all interest and opportunities from global racing entities and identities in selecting the next steward.”
Lexington real estate experts Bill Justice and Bill Bell of Justice Real Estate will act as local sales representatives, according to Icon Global.
According to the announcement, Stronach no longer retains any ownership interest in the farm, which was built in 2007 as the stallion and breeding operation for Adena Springs. With 20 barns and over 250 stalls, Adena Springs Farm in Bourbon County is one of the largest horse farm operations in the world, capable of handling up to 1,000 horses.
