When it comes to getting to and from work, Kentuckians prove you don’t necessarily have to live in a bustling metropolis to endure a brutal commute.

Super commuting, or the practice of spending 90 minutes or more each way on a work commute, is common in Kentucky, especially among workers in the extraction industry, such as mining.

According a 2022 report from Stacker, super commuting is most common in Lee County, where nearly 20% of workers had a commute of at least 90 minutes. Several other rural Eastern Kentucky counties joined Lee County among the top 10, according to Stacker.

Between gas prices, vehicle maintenance and sometimes necessary overnight hotel stays, the cost of super commuting adds up and eats away at the paycheck you’re bringing home. If you’re one of those workers looking to ditch your commute, here are five positions hiring now, most of which are advertising salaries at or above $50,000.

Each of the positions below were recruiting as of Thursday, though you may want to apply immediately to take advantage of these opportunities.

Additionally, while each of these jobs are classified as remote positions, they may require some on-site work. Make sure to read each job description carefully and know what you’re getting into before applying.
