Amazon Prime members can save money on fuel at more than 200 KY gas stations. Here’s how
A new Amazon fuel savings program means Prime members can now save nearly $70 per year on gas at qualifying stations.
Amazon Prime, the online commerce giant’s subscription service, offers members a range of benefits in exchange for a monthly or annual fee. Benefits include free and fast shipping, access to Amazon’s TV, movie, music and gaming catalogs, and discounts at Amazon-owned Whole Foods, among others.
So which Kentucky gas stations are participating and how does it work? Here are the details.
How much can Amazon Prime members really save on gas?
Amazon announced the launch of its new fuel savings offer last month. According to a company news release, Prime members can save 10 cents per gallon at roughly 7,000 bp, Amoco and ampm gas stations across the U.S., including in Kentucky.
According to Amazon, the offer can save Prime members nearly $70 per year on gas. The company bases that savings calculation “on an average of 675 gallons used per year, and an average of 21.5 miles per gallon used on light-duty economy cars,” citing federal transportation data.
This means your savings could vary.
Amazon Prime memberships currently cost $139 per year or about $14.99 a month.
How to sign up for fuel savings through Amazon Prime
According to Amazon, you’ll need to follow a few steps to link your Prime membership to earnify, which is bp’s loyalty program and an app. The earnify app is free.
Here are the steps you need to take:
Become an Amazon Prime member if you’re not already.
Download the earnify app from wherever you get your mobile phone apps.
Go to amazon.com/fuelsavings.
Link your Amazon account to an earnify account through the activation landing page at the link above.
Use the earnify’s app store locator, to find the nearest bp, Amoco or ampm gas station.
Redeem at the pump by entering your phone number or linked payment method. Alternatively, Prime members can redeem at the pump through the earnify app by selecting their gas station and the pump they’re using.
