‘Lucky for Life’ lottery ticket recently sold at Lexington gas station worth $25K a year

If you recently purchased a lottery ticket in Lexington, you might want to look around for it and keep it close.

According to a Wednesday Kentucky Lottery news release, a winning ticket for the Lucky for Life game — worth $25,000 a year for at least 20 years — was sold at a gas station on Southland Drive.

In Lucky for Life, players choose five white ball numbers and one Lucky Ball number. Alternatively, they can select a quick pick and have a computer randomly generate the numbers. Each play costs $2, and there’s a top prize of $1,000 a day “for life.”

Top prize winners can also choose the cash option, which translates to a lump sum payment of $5.75 million. The odds attached to that prize are tall at 1 in 30,821,472.

According to the Kentucky Lottery, a winning ticket for the game’s Tuesday, Nov. 19 drawing was sold at the Southland BP, located at 531 Southland Drive in Lexington.

The winning player matched the first five numbers drawn, but not the Lucky Ball, meaning they won the game’s second-place prize of $25,000 a year over 20 years. The cash option is $390,000.

Tuesday night’s winning numbers were 7, 10, 17, 24, 26 and Lucky Ball 13.

The Kentucky Lottery advises winners to sign the backs of their ticket, store it in a safe place and claim their prize within 180 days of the drawing. For large prize amounts, the lottery requires players to claim their prize in person at the agency’s headquarters at 1011 West Main Street in Louisville.

Winners should contact the lottery at 1-877-789-4532 to make an appointment.

Similarly, in June, the Kentucky Lottery announced $25,000 a year “for life” winner, though it’s unclear whether a winner ever came forward to collect their prize.
