Popular Lexington Mexican restaurant opening fourth location in new shopping center
A Lexington Mexican restaurant that already has three locations is launching a fourth in a new shopping center.
Papi’s Mexican Restaurant and Bar, which opened its first location in Chevy Chase on Euclid, is opening a new Papi’s in Citation Point off Citation Boulevard. The new restaurant will be near Lexington’s first Publix, which is opening on March 5.
Marcos Valdez, who co-owns Papi’s in Palomar and Papi’s at Citation with his sister Rosie Huynh, said he hopes to open the new restaurant this spring. It will be at the end of the shopping center near Georgetown Road.
At about 4,210 square feet, the new restaurant will be slightly larger than the one in Fountains of Palomar, with occupancy of about 200.
Marcos Valdez also owns Papi’s Rapido on South Broadway.
The Citation Point Papi’s will have the same menu as the Chevy Chase and Palomar locations, he said.
But there will be some differences: The Citation restaurant will have a patio with lots of outdoor seating, he said.
And he hopes to make the full bar the centerpiece of the restaurant, he said.
It will be open for lunch and dinner.
And it will join a busy new dining scene on the Northside, with the new Publix as well as several other new restaurants including 7 Brew Coffee, City Barbeque, Panda Express and more.
