Kentucky man to buy dream RV, hit the road with wife after top prize lottery win

A Louisville man plans to buy an RV and travel with his wife after winning the top prize on one of Kentucky Lottery’s newest scratch-off games.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, bought his Kentucky Bourbon Trail scratch-off ticket from a retailer in Louisville, the lottery said in a news release Wednesday.

It’s one of the state lottery’s newest games, launched in April as part of a promotion with the Kentucky Distillers’ Association. Prizes start at $5, and the overall odds of winning a prize are 1 in 2.92. Tickets cost $5.

In selecting his ticket, the man told the lottery he let fate decide, according to the release, allowing the cashier to choose for him.

“I watched wherever his hand went first,” the man said. “That’s the one I was going to pick.”

It was a bit of serendipity, as the man was going to choose another ticket, but changed his mind.

When he scratched off the $75,000 win, the game’s top prize, the man called his wife to deliver the news and hung up. She called back immediately, screaming with excitement.

“I am going to buy my wife an RV,” the man told the Kentucky Lottery. “She wants to travel. I would like a nice motorcycle, but nah, it ain’t about me all the time.”

After taxes, he takes home a check worth $54,000.

Previously, a Kentucky pastor also won $75,000 playing the same Kentucky Bourbon Trail scratch-off game.
