  • After taxes, the couple received $180,000 and plan to pay off their home loan.
  • Two $250,000 prizes remain from the game; odds of top prize are 1 in 680,000.

A $10 scratch-off ticket brought tears to Felicia Perry’s eyes when her husband, Michael, revealed the Owen County couple had won $250,000.

“This is literally going to change everything for us,” Felicia Perry told Kentucky Lottery officials, according to an Aug. 28 news release from the agency.

Michael Perry’s luck came in when he bought two Wild Cash 100X tickets at a Verona gas station after work. The first one was a dud, but he scratched off a win on the second ticket, then another and then the entire ticket was covered in prizes. Perry couldn’t believe his eyes, he told the lottery.

“The first thing that crossed my mind was paying off my house. It’s an amazing feeling to know that I can do that now,” he said.

“I cried a little bit when I saw the ticket,” Felicia Perry said.

After taxes, the couple took home a check for $180,000.

After the game’s June 26 launch, Michael Perry is the first player to claim one of its top prizes. As of Aug. 28, two prizes for $250,000 remain.

The standard odds of claiming one of the game’s three top prizes are 1 in 680,000; however, the odds of winning change as tickets are sold and prizes are awarded. The overall odds of winning any prize playing the Wild Cash 100X are 1 in 3.42. Prize amounts start at $10.

Word of the win came just ahead of other big lottery news in Kentucky, after a player in the state won a $1 million Powerball prize in the Sept. 1 drawing.
