Kentucky woman who was missing for 3 weeks found dead in Ohio
A Kentucky woman who went missing three weeks ago was found dead in her vehicle east of Cincinnati.
The body of Debra Wireman, 69, of Flemingsburg, was identified by officials in Clermont County, Ohio, on Wednesday. Her car was found on July 3, after detectives in Ohio received a notification identifying the vehicle as belonging to a missing person, according to the Flemingsburg Police Department.
Authorities in Ohio who are investigating Wireman’s death said they do not suspect foul play at this time.
Wireman was last seen in Aberdeen, Ohio, traveling toward Maysville on U.S. Highway 52, just across the Ohio River. Her 2020 Kia Forte was captured on CCTV footage with front-end damage.
She lived in Aberdeen, just across the Ohio River from Kentucky, for nearly 30 years, according to online public records. Wireman had lived in Flemingsburg since 2021.
The Clermont County Coroner’s Office identified the remains as Wireman on Wednesday. The county sheriff’s office is conducting an investigation into her death.
Autopsy results are pending, and it can take several weeks for investigators to receive a final report, Chief Deputy Mike White told the Herald-Leader.
The Flemingsburg Police Department is in charge of the investigation into her disappearance for now, White added.
“While this is not the outcome any of us hoped and prayed for, we are thankful that Debra has been found and that her family can now begin to receive the closure they deserve,” the Flemingsburg Police Department said in a Facebook post.
Wireman’s disappearance in June set off what police called an “overwhelming response” from law enforcement agencies, first responders, volunteers and partner organizations who assisted in her search. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
