A recent letter writer’s comments on my thinking certainly didn’t come from any of my public talks in the last six months.
I did criticize President Donald Trump for wanting to end the U.S.-Iran agreement, but a few weeks ago the president decided to continue it — and for good reason.
The agreement, which is supported by Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani, keeps Iran out of the nuclear weapons business. If ever there was a case for “trust and verify,” this is it.
As far as I know, Rep. Andy Barr has supported his president in agreeing to continue the agreement. As for experience, I’ve had 25 years in the Foreign Service, including four in Iran before, during and after the revolution.
