Calipari says UK will need to compete harder than it has been to beat Louisville

Takeaways from Kentucky’s media availability Friday previewing Saturday’s game against Louisville:

Louisville is good. Jordan Nwora is “as good as they get.” With that, UK Coach John Calipari said, “It’ll be a hard game for us. I don’t care where it is.”

Calipari has called for increased post play in Kentucky’s offense. With the three-point shooting inconsistent, the post can be a more effective means of scoring.

Calipari said UK competed and played well for about 32 minutes against Ohio State. “That’s not going to be good enough against (Louisville),” he added.

When asked what insights he gained from studying Texas Tech beating Louisville 70-57, Calipari said several factors may have made that game an aberration. Playing in Madison Square Garden. Louisville’s No. 1 ranking. A “crazy” season full of unpredictability makes it difficult to draw insights.

Ashton Hagans is playing well, but when he becomes undisciplined, it detracts from his and UK’s performance, said Calipari, who added, “He’s got to be more disciplined for 40 minutes.”
