Canada’s role in 2022-23: Back for his fourth season as a UK basketball player, Canada brings a little something different to the court, compared to other walk-ons. At 6-5, he can offer a unique look in Kentucky’s practices, and John Calipari has made use of his size and hard-working style in plenty of instances in the past.

Canada was the only walk-on to get any run during the hour-plus of scrimmage time at the team’s Pro Day event this fall, subbing in for scholarship players and keeping the flow of the practice going while he was on the court. It’s unlikely that Canada will play meaningful minutes in Kentucky’s actual games this season, but he’s been an important player behind the scenes for the Wildcats over the past few seasons. He even got an unprompted shout-out from Calipari during the team’s media day event this year. “How about Brennan and how he’s playing?” the Kentucky coach said. “Here’s a walk-on that has been here, and he could play like four positions. So he’s been doing good, too.”

With three scholarship teammates unable to go in the Blue-White Game a few days earlier, Canada stepped in as a starter. And with just 11 scholarship players on the team, he’ll be there as a quality player during UK’s practices if injuries or illnesses hit during the regular season.
