Kentucky basketball’s defense didn’t go anywhere in its second game of the season.

But the Wildcats’ offense showed up a lot earlier than it did in game one.

A hot-shooting first half coupled with more stifling defense powered No. 9 UK to a 107-59 blowout of Valparaiso on Friday in its final tune-up for next Tuesday’s trip to Louisville.

The Wildcats (2-0) scored 58 first-half points — their highest-scoring half under second-year coach Mark Pope — and won by their second-largest margin under Pope.

Six Kentucky players scored in double figures: Malachi Moreno (18 points), Otega Oweh (15), Mouhamed Dioubate (14), Collin Chandler (14), Brandon Garrison (14) and Denzel Aberdeen (12).

UK shot 54.4% from the floor and made 11 of 28 3-pointers and 22 of 26 free throws.
