Notable numbers, full stats from Kentucky basketball’s 83-66 loss to Michigan State
Numbers to know — and a full statistical overview — from Kentucky’s 83-66 loss to Michigan State on Tuesday at Madison Square Garden:
Sparty’s 3-point party: You’ll see the night’s most notable number anywhere you get your basketball analysis. Michigan State entered Tuesday night’s game with 13 total 3-point field goals in its first three games. It made 11 in trouncing Kentucky. That matched the Spartans’ season high in 2024-25, when it made double-digit 3-pointers only twice.
Board battered: Kentucky had outrebounded each of its first four opponents, winning the battle on the backboards by an average of 15 a game. But Michigan State dominated in the department, outrebounding the Wildcats 42-29.
No-comeback Cats: Michigan State led for 34:19 of the 40 minutes in Monday’s game, and Kentucky never got closer than 10 points in the second half. In its only other game this regular season against a ranked opponent — last week’s 96-88 loss at Louisville — UK trailed for 37:42 of 40 minutes.
