Kentucky women’s basketball commit to compete with Team USA this summer
This summer, another future Kentucky Wildcat will suit up for the United States.
Maddyn Greenway — the No. 11 national prospect and second-ranked point guard in the class of 2026 — has been added to the roster for this summer’s FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup in Brno, Czechia. This marks Greenway’s USA Basketball competitive debut, and comes following her attending the 2024 USA U17 National Team trials, as well as being named a finalist for the 2023 USA Women’s U16 National Team.
Greenway replaces rising Florida sophomore and former five-star prospect Liv McGill who, per USA Basketball, is “no longer available to compete,” in the event.
Greenway, a multi-Minnesota state champion in basketball, track and field and soccer for Providence Academy, announced her commitment to Kentucky last November. She is the daughter of former Minnesota Viking and Iowa Hawkeye Chad Greenway and former Iowa track athlete Jenni Capista Greenway.
Also on the roster are rising UCLA freshman Sienna Betts, rising Connecticut sophomore Kayleigh Heckel, rising Indiana sophomore Zania Socka-Nguemen, rising Texas sophomore Jordan Lee, rising Southern California freshman Jazzy Davidson, rising Duke freshman Emilee Skinner, elite 2028 prospect Sydney Douglas and several high-ranking prospects in the class of 2026 — Saniyah Hall (No. 1), Kate Harpring (No. 4), Jerzy Robinson (No. 5) and Addison Bjorn (No. 13).
The journey to the FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup, which takes place from July 12-20, will open this week with a five-day training camp in Colorado Springs.
The team is in the hunt for its fourth consecutive gold medal, and its 10th of the last 11 competitions.
The United States will begin play in Group A, competing against Hungary, Israel and Korea. The United States’ first contest will take place against Korea on July 12 at 2:15 p.m. EDT. It will play Hungary on July 13 at 2:15 p.m. before concluding group play against Israel at 8:30 a.m. on July 15.
