Freshman Beau Allen is UK’s backup QB at Auburn. See the Wildcats’ first depth chart.

Some quick observations and thoughts on the University of Kentucky’s depth chart, released Monday morning ahead of head coach Mark Stoops’ first news conference. Click here to view the complete depth chart.

Terry Wilson is the starting quarterback. No shocker there. Backing him up? True freshman Beau Allen, a former four-star recruit out of Lexington Catholic High School. Stoops said during his Monday news conference that the eligibility status of Auburn transfer Joey Gatewood is still undetermined.

A.J. Rose once again will be the Cats’ starter at running back. Again, predictable. Rose is on the verge of becoming just the 10th UK player to reach 2,000 career yards.

The man who will replace Logan Stenberg at left guard? Kenneth Horsey, a 6-foot-3, 300-pound sophomore. Austin Dotson, a junior who was contending for the job, is listed as the backup to Luke Fortner at right guard. Both of those “newcomers” are expected to contribute a lot, and a lot of mixing and matching will happen this year on the interior.

Your starting wide receivers: Bryce Oliver, Allen Dailey, Clevan Thomas and Josh Ali. The listed backups are DeMarcus Harris, Akeem Hayes and Isaiah Epps, a junior who might have started last season if not for a foot injury that ultimately sidelined him all of 2019.

Former Henry Clay standout Davonte Robinson, who Stoops said was dealing with issues staying on the field, is listed as the starter at nickelback. True freshman Vito Tisdale, a standout from Bowling Green, is listed as the backup. He’s the only other true freshman on the depth chart other than Allen.
