Kentucky football player Rahsaan Lewis, son of Ray Lewis, pleads guilty to DUI charge
Kentucky football senior wide receiver Rahsaan Lewis, son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Ray Lewis, has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence.
Lewis was arrested in March after being stopped while driving on South Upper Street in downtown Lexington. According to an arrest citation, Lewis showed signs of impairment during a field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol concentration of .153, nearly double the legal limit. He was also charged with reckless driving and improper start from a parked position.
On Aug. 5, Lewis entered a guilty plea to the charge of driving under the influence, first offense. The reckless driving charge and improper start charge were merged as part of the plea. He was sentenced to four days home incarceration and ordered to pay a $200 fine with $568 of court costs. Lewis’ driver’s license was suspended.
A UK spokeswoman told the Herald-Leader the football program had no comment or update on Lewis’ status with the team after the plea. Lewis has been practicing with the team since his arrest and participated in the team’s Fan Day open practice Saturday, one day after his plea.
A walk-on, Lewis played in six games for UK last season. He recorded two catches for 4 total yards and returned one punt for 12 yards. Lewis previously played at Central Florida and South Florida before transferring to Kentucky prior to the 2020 season.
Lewis is the second Kentucky player to plead guilty to a DUI charge this summer. Star running back Chris Rodriguez pled guilty to operating a motor vehicle under the influence in July. UK Coach Mark Stoops has declined to comment on Rodriguez’s status with the team multiple times since that plea, but Rodriguez has also been practicing with the team since the start of preseason camp last week.
