The University of Kentucky football team was defeated by the 22nd-ranked Clemson Tigers 38-35 at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida, on Friday in the 79th TaxSlayer Gator Bowl.

The Wildcats finished the season 7-6 overall and 3-5 in the Southeastern Conference by winning their regular-season finale at then No. 10 Louisville followed by the Gator Bowl loss. Clemson, a perennial power from the Atlantic Coast Conference, finished 9-4, taking a five-game winning streak into the offseason.
