Kentucky had its chances Saturday to upset Ole Miss for the second straight season. But the Wildcats squandered offensive opportunities in a scoreless fourth quarter, and the 20th-ranked Rebels left Kroger Field with a 30-23 win.

In a game both starting quarterbacks — Kentucky’s Zach Calzada and Ole Miss’ Austin Simmons — left with injuries, neither team could get scoring separation. UK led 10-0 in the first quarter. Ole Miss got its first double-digit lead on a field goal with 1:10 to play.

Calzada left the game in the fourth quarter with an apparent shoulder injury. Former Lexington Christian Academy star Cutter Boley replaced him for the Wildcats’ final two drives, including a five-play, 54-yard drive that ended with a 39-yard field goal from Jacob Kauwe.

The Wildcats (1-1, 0-1 SEC) will host Eastern Michigan at 7:30 p.m. next Saturday at Kroger Field. The Rebels (2-0, 1-0) host Arkansas.
