On a night when its defense was good enough, the Kentucky offense couldn’t gain a yard when it mattered.

Texas stuffed the Wildcats twice from the 1-yard line in overtime — once on fourth down — and Longhorns kicker Mason Shipley kicked a 45-yard field goal on the ensuing possession for a 16-13 win.

Statistically, Kentucky quarterback Cutter Boley — 31-for-39 passing, 258 yards and an interception with a rushing touchdown — outplayed ballyhooed Texas QB Arch Manning, who completed 12 of 27 passes for 132 yards.

But on a night when defenses dominated — Texas had just 179 yards of offense to Kentucky’s 395 — the Longhorns made the two stops that mattered most.
