The offensive highlight reel will be brief, but a little offense went a long way for Kentucky football Saturday night.
The Wildcats beat Auburn 10-3 at Jordan-Hare Stadium, winning their first SEC game of the season and the program’s first game with 10 or fewer points since 2011.
Defense carried the day for UK (3-5, 1-5 SEC), which sacked Auburn quarterbacks seven times, including 1.5 each from Kahlil Saunders and Alex Afari. And Jordan Lovett intercepted Auburn quarterback Ashton Daniels’ long pass in the end zone on the game’s final play.
Kentucky quarterback Cutter Boley completed 18 of 29 passes for 161 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions. The second of those looked like it might set up Auburn (4-5, 1-5) for a potential game-tying drive, but UK receiver Cam Miller forced and tight end Henry Boyer recovered a fumble on the Tigers’ return.
