Highlights: Kentucky basketball recruit Boogie Fland shows backcourt skills at Peach Jam
Few players in the 2024 recruiting class have been recruited by Kentucky longer than combo guard Boogie Fland.
At 6-foot-3 and 165 pounds, Fland is ranked by the 247Sports Composite as a five-star prospect and the No. 8 player overall in his class.
Fland picked up his UK scholarship offer in July 2022 and has taken official visits to North Carolina, Michigan and Indiana in the time since.
In May, he teased a visit to Kentucky as something he wanted to try and do “for sure,” and if it comes to fruition, it should be welcomed by Wildcats fans.
While UK might currently have a logjam of guards in the backcourt for the upcoming season, the Wildcats are still without any backcourt commits in the class of 2024.
And Fland — who averaged 15 points per game this season on the Nike EYBL circuit while playing for PSA Cardinals — would be a nice place to start.
The Herald-Leader watched Fland play Monday afternoon in a highly anticipated matchup against another top 2024 UK recruit, small forward Karter Knox.
Fland was strong early but cooled off late in a close loss. There was also an injury scare for Fland in the fourth quarter when he landed awkwardly on his left leg and limped back to the bench before later returning to the game.
Fland scored 12 points and frequently got to the foul line in Monday’s game.
