While the Kentucky men’s basketball team was north of the border putting together an undefeated, gold-medal showing at the 2023 GLOBL JAM tournament, the Wildcats also scored a pair of recruiting wins stateside.

UK made the final eight list of schools for a pair of sought-after players in the 2024 class, including one who is a longtime UK recruit.

On Monday, class of 2024 combo guard Boogie Fland announced UK as one of his top eight schools.

Kentucky is joined by Alabama, Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, Maryland, UConn and St. John’s in his final list.

A five-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite, Fland has taken official visits to North Carolina, Michigan and Indiana. A potential visit to UK could take place for Fland in September.

Fland’s announcement comes less than a week after Kentucky made the top-eight list for another class of 2024 recruit, center Patrick Ngongba II.

A four-star recruit according to the 247Sports Composite, Ngongba also had Duke, Indiana, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan, Providence and UConn on his list, in addition to the Wildcats.

He’s taken official visits to Duke, UConn, Providence, and Kansas State.

Ngongba recently won the prestigious Peach Jam tournament, the season-ending Nike EYBL event, with his Team Takeover squad.

According to Joe Tipton of On3, Ngongba plans to announce his college decision sometime before the early signing period in November.

While Fland received his scholarship offer from UK back in July 2022, Ngongba received his this month, shortly before including the Cats among his final schools.

The Wildcats currently have one class of 2024 commit: Center Somto Cyril.

Another piece of the puzzle for Kentucky’s 2024 recruiting class could come Sunday afternoon, when combo guard Ahmad Nowell announces his college decision.

Nowell is down to four schools: Kentucky, UConn, Georgia Tech and Tennessee.
