A new Kentucky target for the 2022 class. And the top UK basketball recruiting links.
There’s a new name for Kentucky fans to track in the basketball recruiting class of 2022.
The Herald-Leader was told last week that 7-footer Adrame Diongue had been in recent contact with the Wildcats’ coaching staff, and those conversations are apparently serious enough that the Senegal native has included UK among his final five schools. Diongue released that list Wednesday night, with Kentucky alongside Kansas, Texas Tech, UNLV and Washington State. UK has not yet extended a scholarship offer, and assistant coach Chin Coleman has been the lead recruiter.
Diongue plays for the same Arizona prep school that featured UK freshman TyTy Washington last season. He’s a long, athletic big man who has shown promise on both ends of the floor. On3.com is the recruiting service that ranks him the highest (No. 36 overall), while 247Sports pegs him as the No. 132 prospect in the 2022 class.
Kentucky has just two incoming high school recruits for next season (combo guard Cason Wallace and wing Chris Livingston), and the Cats have been looking at frontcourt possibilities, especially in the case that there are any postseason departures among their current group of Oscar Tshiebwe, Lance Ware and Daimion Collins.
Diongue has not yet taken any official visits, and a trip to Kentucky could be in the works later this spring.
