Names of possible college basketball transfers to Kentucky have already been flying around over the past few days, and that will continue in the coming weeks as John Calipari shapes next season’s roster.
The Herald-Leader was told Saturday morning, however, that UK’s coaches have not yet had any direct contact with any potential transfers for next season. So far, the main offseason priority for Calipari and his coaching staff has been focused on Kentucky’s current players and what they’ll do next. Several Wildcats are weighing NBA Draft decisions and others have been mentioned as possible transfers out of the program.
UK coaches are still gathering information on potential transfers into the program for next season and will reach out to those players a little later in the process if the Wildcats are interested in their recruitments. Kentucky is expected to have plenty of options in the transfer portal this offseason, and potential star players continue to add their names to the list on a daily basis.
Texas Tech transfer Terrence Shannon Jr., a key player on the Red Raiders’ No. 1-ranked defense this season, will definitely be a player for UK fans to follow, and he could be among the transfers to become major Kentucky targets as this process continues.
