Keeping track of Kentucky’s new basketball targets. And the top UK recruiting links.
This Kentucky Wildcats basketball offseason is still just a little more than a week old, and there’s already been plenty to keep tabs on as the roster-building for the 2022-23 season begins.
There have been plenty of possible transfers already linked to UK, but there are also a couple of intriguing new recruits from the 2022 class to monitor.
Over the past few days, John Calipari has traveled to Pennsylvania and Ontario to see senior guard Adou Thiero and 6-foot-10 wing Leonard Miller, respectively. Thiero is the son of a former Calipari player and had a breakout senior season in the Pittsburgh area. Miller is a long, tall, wing from Canada who has become a hot name in recruiting circles. He was also visited by Auburn last week and is considering a jump straight from high school to the pros. We’ll hear more about both recruits in the coming days, and Miller will especially be one to watch.
As for transfers, several names have already been mentioned as possible UK targets, but the Herald-Leader was told over the weekend that Kentucky coaches have not yet been in direct contact with anyone in the transfer portal. Instead, UK is hearing from intermediaries of players with possible interest in the Cats, and they’ll sort out who the realistic targets will be soon. Expect Texas Tech transfer Terrence Shannon Jr. to be on that target list when the dust settles.
The Kentucky offseason is just getting started.
