Major recruit sets up a Kentucky visit. And the top UK basketball recruiting links.
The Kentucky Wildcats will host five-star basketball recruit Ron Holland for an official visit next month.
Holland — a 6-foot-8 forward from Duncanville, Texas — has been one of the hottest recruits in the country over the past few months. He was named the national junior of the year by MaxPreps.com following the high school season, and he’s continued to be successful on the Nike EYBL circuit this spring. On3.com now ranks Holland as the No. 2 overall prospect in the 2023 class. There are no picks on his 247Sports Crystal Ball page.
Kentucky will host Holland for an official visit June 13-15, he announced Tuesday, and the star recruit has said in recent weeks that he’s expecting to land a UK scholarship offer during his first trip to Lexington. Auburn and UCLA both extended scholarship offers earlier this week, and Holland’s most recent college list also included Arkansas, Houston, Memphis and Texas.
The G League is also on Holland’s list, and there has been persistent talk in recruiting circles that Holland could very well skip college altogether for the professional path. Whatever the future holds, Kentucky could be just weeks away from taking a major step in his recruitment.
