Latest on DJ Wagner, new predictions for UK, and top Kentucky basketball recruiting links.
A day after Louisville officially hired Milt Wagner for a position related to its basketball program, more predictions were logged in favor of the Cardinals for prized recruit DJ Wagner.
The younger Wagner is the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. Before Louisville hired Kenny Payne as its new head coach, the Kentucky Wildcats were long considered to be the major favorites, thanks largely to the fact that John Calipari coached DJ’s father, Dajuan Wagner, at Memphis, as well as hiring Milt in a similar fashion there when Dajuan was a high school recruit.
Payne revealed Milt Wagner — a former U of L teammate — as his newest staff member Tuesday, and by the following afternoon Jamie Shaw and Travis Graf, national analysts for On3.com and Rivals.com, respectively, had logged new predictions in favor of Louisville. Several 247Sports analysts, including Travis Branham and Adam Finkelstein, had already logged Crystal Ball picks for the Cards.
So, as of now, the past 10 predictions on Wagner’s pages across those three national recruiting websites have all been in favor of Louisville.
