2022 Kentucky high school football recruits make college picks. Here’s who signed where.

One of the most electrifying players in Lexington high school football in recent seasons is heading East for college.

It’s long been known that Lexington Christian Academy running back Xavier Brown would become a Virginia Cavalier, picking Virginia as his college choice during a commitment ceremony in July.

What followed during Brown’s senior season at LCA was nothing short of a dominant showing that highlighted why he was a Division I recruit.

Brown recorded 1,511 rushing yards and 22 rushing touchdowns on 117 carries, along with 398 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns from 17 pass receptions, as LCA reached the state title game and finished as the runner-up in Class 2A for the second straight season.

“The bigger the stage the better he plays,” LCA head coach Doug Charles told the Herald-Leader about Brown after LCA’s 58-0 win over Middlesboro in the Class 2A semifinals on Nov. 26. “The bright lights don’t scare him and that’s why he’s a Power Five kid. ... He’s going to be, in my view, a successful Saturday player as well.”

Brown was named the Gatorade Kentucky Football Player of the Year last week, the first time the honor went to an LCA player. Brown is now part of a group of recent award winners that includes current UK star Wan’Dale Robinson in 2018-19 from Western Hills and current NFL player Rondale Moore in 2017-18 from Trinity (Louisville).

Brown was one of several Kentucky high school football stars on Wednesday who officially signed with top college programs outside the state of Kentucky.

The early recruiting signing period for class of 2022 college football players began Wednesday, and across the commonwealth high school players put pen to paper on their college decisions. The early signing period runs from Wednesday through Friday.

Below is a list of class of 2022 high school players from Kentucky who signed with FBS schools, sorted by their high schools.
