11th Region boys’ bracket draw pits 2 Lexington teams against each other in first round
The draw for the 11th Region boys’ basketball tournament will pit Lexington Catholic and Henry Clay against each other in the first round and set up the potential for an all-Lexington finals, but six other top teams will have something to say about that.
The drawing was held Saturday morning and conducted by Frankfort High School.
First-round games will all be held on the home courts of this week’s district champions on Tuesday with Henry Clay at Lexington Catholic, defending region champion Madison Central at Great Crossing, Western Hills at Frederick Douglass and Paul Laurence Dunbar at Madison Southern.
Among the quarterfinal matchups. only Madison Central and Great Crossing have played each other during the regular season with the Indians winning 57-45 in Richmond on Jan. 14.
The semifinals will be played on Friday and the finals on Monday, March 7, at Eastern Kentucky University’s McBrayer Arena in Richmond.
