The 11th Region girls’ basketball tournament will split Lexington’s four teams among their Central Kentucky opponents when play begins with Monday’s first round.

The draw was conducted Saturday morning by Frankfort High School.

The tournament’s quarterfinals will be held at each district champion’s home court before the event moves on to Eastern Kentucky University’s McBrayer Arena in Richmond for the semifinals and finals later in the week.

Lafayette will host Berea and Henry Clay will host Great Crossing while Lexington Catholic travels to Madison Southern and Bryan Station must take on two-time defending champion and region favorite Franklin County in Frankfort.

Among the quarterfinal matchups, two were previewed in the regular season. Lexington Catholic lost at home to Madison Southern 39-30 on Feb. 16, while Berea handed Lafayette a 48-34 home loss in the Generals’ third game of the season on Dec. 7.

That Pirates-Generals contest came a week after Lafayette was stunned by the loss of standout senior shooting guard Lauren Walton to a season-ending ACL injury. Unfortunately, Berea has been dealt an injury blow since, losing leading scorer Madison Howell to a knee injury late in the season.

Bryan Station and Franklin County were scheduled to play each other earlier this year, but a snow storm wiped out the contest.
